About the Role
The Communications Coordinator is a dynamic and multifaceted role that is essential to the Marketing & Communications team at Food Banks Canada. Working closely with the Internal Communications team, you will support the development and deployment of various communications pieces to both the internal staff and the Food Banks Canada network while also supporting the External Communications and Marketing teams to ensure our materials are effective, engaging and aligned with our brand.
What You Will Be Doing
- Support the internal communications team and network with key initiatives and deliverables including drafting and posting content to the organization’s intranet, supporting the production and distribution of network daily and weekly eblasts, and monthly newsletters
- Support the Marketing and Communications department ensuring all communication materials meet the Food Banks Canada brand guidelines
- Assist with the administration and coordination of Food Banks Canada's learning management system and webinars
- Support the external communications team with deliverables by assisting with content creation (social media, blog creation, etc.), and act as back up for external media monitoring as required (managing the media inbox, daily news distribution)
- Assist the marketing team with key initiatives and campaigns, as well as assist with website updates and changes as requested
- Assist the Social Media and Content Coordinator with the translation process for internal and external communication throughout the organization
- Work collaboratively with other departments, adhering to internal processes, schedules, and timelines
What You Will Need
- Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or equivalent in communications, marketing, or journalism
- Minimum 2 years experience in communications or journalism
- Bilingualism (English/French) is required
- Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to identify tone and style for effective messaging for diverse audiences, with attention to detail, phrasing, and word choice
- Exceptional time and project coordination skills, organized and task-oriented, with an ability to respond in a timely fashion to inquiries and team communications
- Strong technical skills, with proficiency in WordPress, CRMs, Microsoft Office Suite, and Canva
- Demonstrate initiative, action-oriented, and strong project coordination skills
- Ability to build relationships and work as part of a cross-functional team
- Proven ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgment
Working Conditions
- Full-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work.
- This position is remote and can be based anywhere in Canada.
- Occasional travel within Canada may be required
