About the Role
As a part of the National Food Sharing Team, the Officer, Food Procurement supports Food Banks Canada’s initiatives to supply the food bank network with a reliable supply of nutritious food. The Officer, Food Procurement will assist with the execution of national food programs and donor stewardship.
What You Will Be Doing
- Collaborate with the Procurement team to lead, design, implement, and evaluate Food Banks Canada programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and responsiveness to network needs
- Lead specific programs and program related deliverables for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective execution and impact
- Collaborate with Procurement team, lead, design, and deliver program communications to the network, enhancing awareness, engagement and participation in procurement initiatives
- For assigned programs, lead the full purchasing cycle, including; product sourcing, negotiations, creating purchase orders, coordinating with vendors, managing invoicing and invoice tracking to ensure timely and accurate financial reconciliation
- Collaborate effectively to cultivate strong vendor and donor relations as well as maintaining relationships through regular stewardship and recognition
- Work alongside the Procurement team and the Project and Evaluations team to develop and execute program evaluations
- Ensure data collection and administrative workflows follow best practices to support timely reporting, maintaining high standards of data quality and integrity
- Serve as a key point of contact for vendors, donors and the network providing consultation, ongoing support, technical assistance and leading the creation and distribution of program resources
- Maintain and optimize program technology, ensuring platforms and information are current and accurate, and effectively support program operations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other Food Bank Canada teams to support integrated program delivery and shared goals
- Other duties as assigned
What You Will Need
- Completion of a post-secondary college diploma program or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience
- Project coordination and issue management skills; ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities
- Analytical mindset with the ability to organize data
- Clear, professional, and warm communicator
- Superior listening skills with the ability to interpret the concerns and interests of different groups of stakeholders
- Professional presence, with a positive attitude and self-starter, accountable approach project management
- Effective interpersonal skills and success in working in a team environment
- Problem solver and professionally curious with a strong interest in the mission of Food Banks Canada
- Excellent writer with experience developing effective communications materials for a variety of audiences
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
Working Conditions
- Full-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work
- This position is remote and may be based anywhere in Canada
