Administrative Assistant
Business Unit: Metlakatla First Nation
Location: Metlakatla, BC - Onsite
Reporting to: Executive Director
POSITION SUMMARY
The Administrative Assistant supports the efficient operation of the organization by providing a broad range of administrative services and office support. This role helps maintain effective communication, organized systems, and smooth administrative processes across departments. The Administrative Assistant acts as a professional and welcoming point of contact for staff and community members while contributing to a productive and well-organized work environment. This position requires a demonstrated high level of organization, confidentiality, professionalism, and interpersonal communications skills.
Responsibilities
Provide administrative support to leadership and staff to support daily operations
Serve as a professional point of contact for staff, community members, and Metlakatla Governing Council
Prepare, edit, and distribute correspondence, reports, briefing materials, and other documents
Maintain accurate records, filing systems, and confidential information
Coordinate office communications and ensure timely follow-up on administrative matters
Support the planning and coordination of meetings, events, functions, and organizational activities
Maintain calendars, schedules, travel arrangements, meeting bookings, and shared office resources
Assist with data entry, document management, and record-keeping activities
Monitor and order office supplies and support the maintenance of office equipment
Conduct basic research and assist with preparing reports and information packages
Support administrative processes across departments and assist with special projects as required
Perform other related administrative duties as assigned or required
What You Bring:
High School Diploma; degree or diploma in business administration or related field preferred
A minimum of two years’ experience in an administrative role
Experience working in a First Nations organization
Demonstrated experience working in a position that requires confidentiality and adherence to Freedom of Information and Privacy Protection
Experience booking travel, meetings, and functions, and making amendments to previous bookings
Other:
Ability to travel on occasion as required for meetings
Criminal Record Check with a satisfactory result
Follow Metlakatla policies and procedures

Wage range: $24.00 - $33.00
Hours of work: 35 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Thursday from 8:30 am-5:00 pm, and Friday from 8:30 am-1:00 pm
